Having said that, many of our guests choose Lower AC and use the money saved towards a different experience elsewhere. just getting to see a slot canyon is worth the extra cost. Only you can decide being able to spend quality time in the canyon at your own pace vs. It is harder and harder to get photos without strangers in them at either Antelopes - expect the guides to keep you moving and only getting quick snaps rather than being able to stop, adjust settings, compose angles, etc. No matter when you go you can still get decent photos in any of the slots.

Many tout Upper for the light beam but unless you have a perfectly timed tour AND there is full light (not overcast) AND they throw sand in the air, you aren't going to get the iconic photos you see. I have a height issue so I'm conscious of it when we do Lower but others who don't have that fear have no problem with them.

The ladders are open metal steps and there are hand rails. Downside is the exact same issue - Lower is narrower if you have any tendencies towards claustrophobia (tight spaces in the slot) or fear of heights on the ladders. We prefer lower between the 2 as the slot is narrower and more dramatic. Not sure when you are planning to visit but winter tends to be less crowded and the tours more on time but there will still be lots of people. We are there at least once a month with guests that visit our Scottsdale home so I've seen lots of changes and have had to change the way we visit northern AZ with guests. My answers would vary each year as popularity of the slots have changed over the last 4 years or so. If you are reading otherwise, the reports are probably from several years ago. It is our most popular 7-8 hour tour.No on the Upper vs. White Pocket offers a variety of formations and colors. White Pocket is a unique landscape where we wander around in the 1.5 square miles of white “brain rock”, and take in the amazing red, yellow, and orange swirls erupting out of the otherwise uniform out of this worldly formation.

Easy to combine with the Rosie Canyon Petroglyphs.Although it is not technical at all, it is a great experience to marvel at the history of the rocks we walk on here! Our vote is that this is one of nature’s perfect yoga/meditation spots! We frequently hear, “I can’t believe I’m walking in the very place the dinosaurs walked! This is so cool!”. The tracks lie in a beautiful sandstone wash where you will feel remote and quiet. This is one of the easier places to hike and see evidence of ancient life. We will drive up to within 20 yards of the first tracks.Near- Rosy Canyon turn off, Coral Pink Sand Dunes. The last two miles are on a deep sandy road.Private Tour Pricing: All tours are subject to 8.1% state sales tax, and 3% BLM land usage fee(subject to change) Of the options in the “Best of Kanab Southwest Tour”, Rosie Canyon is a must!.The short hike is in a wash with wonderful scenery in every direction. This particular spot is in a really pretty setting in a tiny box canyon. This panel is one of our absolute favorites! We love to show people the amazing rock art from centuries past in Rosie Canyon. We provide plenty of water, but always encourage guests to bring extra. We rank the overall hike a 2/10 difficulty, except that one section of 50 feet we’d rate about a 4.The hike is easy except at the end there is a little scramble to get up to the petroglyphs.

10 minutes to the Moccasin Mountain Dinosaur tracks turn off.10-15 minutes from the Coral Pink Sand Dunes.About 40 minutes from Kanab including 2 miles of deep sand.
